Inserting and removing contact lenses

Recommended daily use:
After waking up, you should wait at least 20 minutes before inserting contact lenses. It is also advisable to remove them if possible a few hours before bedtime.

Placing the contact lens:

As a first step we must wash our hands with soap, if possible one containing no oils, lotions or fragrances, and dry the hands properly afterwards. Before inserting the lens, rinse it with solution in order to remove any remaining residue.

When bringing the lens up to the eye, you should always keep the other eye open, staring into the mirror to ease handling.

With one hand:

  1. Set the lens on the tip of the index finger, making sure it is dry and in perfect condition (try to avoid touching the lens with fingernails or sharp objects). Make sure the lens is right-side up before inserting it in your eye.
  2. Using your middle finger, slide down your lower eyelid.

With the other hand:

  1. Use your index finger to lift the upper eyelid.
  2. Insert the contact lens in your eye, making slight pressure in a small circular movement with your finger to remove air bubbles between the lens and the eye, ensuring correct insertion.
  3. If the lens does not automatically seat after several blinks, open your eye and gently move the lens up into place by pushing it with the edge of the eyelid (use your finger as a guide)

Removing contact lenses:

Always remember to keep the other eye open, staring into the mirror, to facilitate removal of the lens.

With one hand:

  1. Use your index finger to lift the upper eyelid.

With the other hand:

  1. With your middle finger, slide down the lower eyelid.
  2. Place your finger and thumb on the lens, gently closing them, thus detaching the lens from his eye while holding it gently between the fingers.
